Colorado Artists Guild

In 1908 an idea was sparked to create a formal group whose goal was to encourage and gain public support for the fine arts. It was not until 1928 that this goal was realized and The Denver Artists Guild was born.
The first exhibit of the new guild was held on June 11, 1928 at Chappel House, where the guild met monthly. The house was eventually razed to make way for the Denver Art Museum. It is the oldest continuously active fine arts organization in the Denver area, preceded only by the Denver Art Club, formed in the late 1890's, whose members later founded the Denver Art Museum.
In 1990 the name was changed to Colorado Artists Guild to more accurately reflect the boundaries of its membership. Membership is gained through a jurying process by the Board of Directors. Community members who want to help support the arts are also invited to join. The Denver Artists Guild d/b/a Colorado Artists Guild is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation in the state of Colorado.
